Military Saves is a DoD-wide financial readiness campaign to persuade military service and family members, as well as the wider military community, to reduce debt and save money, thereby ensuring personal financial readiness and positively impacting the nation's personal/household savings rates. |
Military Saves encourages:
• Developing a personal financial plan
• Establishing good credit
• Saving a portion of each paycheck
• Enrolling in the Service members' Group Life Insurance, the Thrift Savings
Plan, and, when eligible, the Savings Deposit Program.

Weekly Activities
16-21 February - Kiosk AAFES/DECA advertising Military Saves Week
Attend any of the courses and you will be entered in a chance to win: Dinner Theatre for two @ the Firehouse Brewing Co. or a $50 US Savings Bond
23 Feb 10 (13:30-16:00) - Basic Investment Course (Rushmore Center Classroom)
(Foundation for investing in numerous areas; CDs, IRAs, stocks, bonds,
etc.; with a brief overview of TSP)
23 Feb 10 (16:30 -19:00) - Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS)
Open House @ CCCS (Located behind the Rushmore Mall)
24 Feb 10 (08:00 – 10:00) - Relationship with MONEY (Rushmore Center Classroom)
(Discover ways to identify and modify destructive spending habits.
Learn about “emotional spending” and how to control habits)
24 Feb 10 (13:30 – 16:00) - Money in Motion (Rushmore Center Classroom)
(This course is the foundation of money management; students will
learn how to develop attainable financial goals, how to set-up an
effective spending plan, using credit wisely and how to use credit to
our advantage. This course also teaches the basics for saving and
investing)
25 Feb 10 (13:30-16:00) - Make Your Move Home buying course (Rushmore Center Classroom)
(This course provides information on home buying from start to
closing; credit preparation, mortgages, buyer beware tips,
and how to save on various fees)
26 Feb 10 (08:00-16:00) - Credit When Credit is Due (Rushmore Center Classroom)
(This course is a nationally standardized credit education course.
Establishing or rebuilding your credit; this course provides guidance
on improving your credit report and score. The course covers credit
cards, home buying, car buying, loans, budgeting, and bankruptcy.
Books are provided free of charge, and they are yours to keep for
future reference) |
