Personal Finance Classes, Briefings, and Workshops

Basic Investment - Provides a foundation for investing in numerous areas, such as CDs, IRAs, stocks, bonds, etc. A brief overview of the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) will also be provided.

Bundles for Babies - If you are an Air Force active duty member or spouse of an active duty member who is expecting a baby or is a new mother, you are encouraged to register for a "Bundles for Babies" class. It is a one hour course on financial education. Upon completion of the class, receive a free "bundle" that the Air Force Aid Society purchased from the Gerber Company. This gift from the AFAS consists of a tote bag, receiving blanket, washcloths, hooded towels, sleepers, onesies and more! Call Family Advocacy at (605) 385-3660 to schedule the class.

Car Buying - During this course you will cover: a brief Credit Overview, took box analogy, 3 parts to car buying, buying vs leasing, new vs. used, MSRP, asset value, GAP insurance and many other car buying tips/strategies.

Credit When Credit Is Due - A nationally standardized credit education course. If you are just establishing or rebuilding your credit, this class may help you improve your credit score. The course covers credit cards, home buying, car buying, loans, budgeting, and bankruptcy. Books are provided free of charge, and they are yours to keep for future reference.

Home Buying Course "Make Your Move" - This course is designed to educate consumers on purchasing a home, building a home, impact of credit history and how to increase your score, importance of getting pre-qualified, types of loans available, and predatory lending. This course also covers what to look for when shopping for a home and an in-depth look at insurance!

Money in Motion - This class is a basic fianancial literacy program developed by the American Center for Credit Education. The goals of Money in Motion are: to provide you with the skills you need to handle your finances responsibly; to provide you iwth information to gain the confidence you need to make wise financial descisions; to provide you with information on what to do should you experience financial distress.

Officer PFM Refresher Course - Mandatory financial management course for First duty station officers.
